Large rhombic dodecahedron (e)

Built something nice? Let the other Geomag fans see what you've done.

Large rhombic dodecahedron (e)

I don't know why I've never built this before: it's exact, doesn't need
an exotic amount of Geomag (96 square panels and 312 rods), it goes up
easily in an evening, and is easily strong enough to pick up.

The rhombic dodecahedron nestles secretly inside the lattice of
tetrahedra and octahedra that can be assembled to fill space.

So, the only trick to remember when building is that this model
is tetrahedra and octahedra separated by triangular tubes.

AFKAN - gauntlet is down, mate  I'm sure you are itching to build
this model at scale 4!

ooooo, very nice and simple model. I will definitely have to make this when I get back home to my magnets after break!

nice in blue - do you have any colored rods? it looks good to highlight
the inner solid.

We both built tubes of length 2: I'm pretty sure that length 3 will hold together. Not
sure about any bigger than that.

This looks very satisfying!

Can you pick it up? How about posing it in the snow! we don't have that here
in San Francisco, so I couldn't compete.
