For those who are new to Geomag I just thought I'd take some time to remember one of the best of us.

Although I can't say that I knew Rafael on anything but a fleeting personal level, his work has served as an inspiration to me from the start.

For those of you who aren't aware of his work take a look at http://textodigital.com/P/GG/bindex.php his work is nothing short of stunning.

RIP Rafael, you may be gone but you'll never be forgotten ;)

Very nice post. His work was genius!!! Although we only found his site after his passing, his work and web site were the inspiration for my two sons and I to increase our collection and build our own web site. Many of our models were first seen on Rafael's site. It's truly great that his creations live on.

Thank you for posting and remembering him.

Rafael's site is a great resource and his work an inspiration to us all. My students have looked at his work with wonder and are eager to try the new ideas they see.

Rafael's site lives on in the Way Back Machine Internet Archive.

The last snapshot is from 13st of December 2012

I've tried to find the contact information for his widow but without luck.
Karl and someone else (Rveas?) spoke about maybe having a backup, but I haven't heard any confirmation of this.

Hello,

I didn't visit the forum since a long time, but my researches for inspiration got me here again and I saw your messages about webarchives.

I tried to visit the website of Rafael Milan in the webarchives, but the access seems to be blocked. Do you think his website disappeared ? Or do we need informations to visit it ? It would be very sad to know that everything M. Milan did is going to disappear.

Do you know how we can now access to it ?

Hello Ludovic.

I just tried now, and if it was blocked when you looked maybe it's working again now. I can see it here from Switzerland.
For instance, here's the page with the 'snakes' (chains of octaedra)

Hello,

I tried to visit Rafael's website, but I always have the same page, and I cannot access to it.
I don't understand why I can access to it, even with the link you sent to me in your last message.

It is a very important source of inspiration lost for me. I hope I will access to it another day.

Ludovic

Hi guys.

In first time, sorry for my english.

I discovered the Rafael's page some years ago.

When I seen the Rafael's death notice in the page, I did think in the possibility of lost the Rafael's great work.

In this moment, I decided to make a copy of his page.

I have all the page in a local copy, 73Mb in a zip.
