Thank you Peter :D

It's a kind of magic when you discover these complex reflections or fractal shapes afterwards.
One can hardly predict the result of reflections or pretty perspectives or alignments of rods and spheres. No more than the light which cast shadows and create colored atmospheres thanks to the panels. Even if you took the time to think about the choice of your colors of rods and panels, their distribution and the resulting patterns, it's always a nice surprise when examining your construction from all angles you find THE point of view that generates a beautiful emotion :-)

It is also a great satisfaction when you manage to render it correctly on your photo. Of course all this remains obviously subjective. For my part, at my small skill level I don't try to take the best photo in absolute terms, but rather the photo that best artistically captures the emotion I felt and the story I want to tell; -)

Exactly. I also like reflections in balls.

Finally, I proudly present to you my cupola surmounted by a lantern :D

It all started with a dodecahedron challenge that Peter gave me a few months ago... But I got lost on the way and achieved this result. :o
I'll tell you all about that a bit later, and also show you some interesting intermediate steps ... when i find some time

In the meantime, here is the third largest structure I have built to date 8-)
2444 rods, 717 spheres and 332 panels

I didn't have a specific idea in mind to achieve this result.
Looking later I found these domes that vaguely resemble my model:

Believe it or not but it all started from this:

IMG_1865.JPG
Peter's challenge
A simple photo that Peter sent me as a challenge without further instructions
By the way, you can also admire Peter's great achievement with this giant build made of Geomag Kids rods (which are longer, heavier and thus proportionally weaker than short rods). Just Bravo!

It took a little time and a lot of observation to figure out how to go about it and where to start. Once I managed to discern the core module and understand how it was made up, I was good to go. :D

I Got there: 1350 rods and 415 spheres at this stage (out of the 1800 rods and 540 spheres needed to complete the full dodecahedron)

20201114_134954.jpg
Dodecahedron almost finished. Only 5 modules missing out of the 20

20201114_135441.jpg
Looks like some kind of plasma cannon from this angle!

I was well launched to go to the end but by manipulating the construction I had the idea to explore other possibilities first ...
