What if I added legs and a roof ...

By night
And here is the fat guy 1937-Cupola: 1937 rods, 337 spheres and 122 panels
But I was not completely satisfied by the shape of the lower part (too fat to my opinion)...

So I made some adjustments (involving more rods!) and went maybe a little wild :o

I modified the bottom of the structure to turn the feet outwards and while doing so I lengthened them and I stretched the round openings:

And so I created this tall girl: the Semiorka 2557-Cupola with 2557 rods, 562 spheres and 187 panels.
But it was now more a tower than a cupola :?

So I shorten it a little bit ;-)
To get back to the round openings and close the upper arches.

I ended up taking my old DSLR to shoot these night photos

I thus obtained this dwarf: the Apollo Command Module 1654-Cupola with 1654 rods, 452 spheres and 127 panels.
But once again I was not fully satisfied with the proportions of my cupola. It certainly needed columns to gain a little height again and touch the sky again ...

So I put my dwarf on stilts :D

The Dwarf-on-stilts-2554-Cupola

And got that Dwarf-on-stilts-2554-Cupola with 2554 rods, 752 spheres and 187 panels.

But guess what. I was still not satisfied with the shape of my cupola. It was too angular and not round enough.
I was looking for a way to lighten it up a bit because I found it too massive. It was too Roman art-like, I wanted it more Gothic art ...
So I tried things and unintentionally came across the stripped down dodecahedron shape Peter designed on the Geomag Pro 200 box. By myself! 8-)

This is how I finally built my 2444-Cupola :D

I'll post a thread later with more details on this great journey.
